History of United Way
Brief History:
United Way Worldwide is the national organization that allows local United Ways to share best practices and other information that helps strengthen our community. To learn more about United Way Worldwide, please visit www.liveunited.org.
United Way of Wapello County is in our 46th year of service to our community. We work to advance the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all by focusing on education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Therefore, we bring together people from all across the community - government, business, faith groups, nonprofit, the labor movement, and ordinary citizens - to tackle the issues. Because we all win when a child succeeds in school, when a family becomes financially stable, when people have good health.
There are over 1300 autonomous United Ways in the United States of America, each one producing results in their local community. United Way of Wapello County serves the citizens of Wapello County, and is independently governed by a volunteer board of community leaders who are dedicated to creating positive local change.
