Meet UWWC's New Youth Board Member

"I am a junior at Ottumwa High School. I play basketball and soccer. I am involved in Substance Abuse Task Force: Teen Advisory Committee, a group dedicated to inform students the effects of substance abuse. I also play percussion. During marching band I play marching snare, concert band is anything that needs covered, and symphony is about the same as concert band. I have two sisters, one older and one younger. My older sister is graduating in August from Texas A&M at Corpus Christi, TX. My younger sister is a sophomore at OHS and is the basketball manager. I enjoy volunteering because I love helping people. I am trying to achieve the honor of being able to wear the silver cord when I graduate. The silver cord is an honor given to students who complete 400 community service hours through the course of their high school career. I don't care about how it looks on a transcript, I want silver cord because I thoroughly enjoy helping people and would like others to see that." -Averi Cash
