United Way of Wapello County offers Live United Mini-Grants to support innovative, one-time community projects that strengthen the building blocks of a better life: Education, Health, and Financial Stability.

Whether you’re a civic group, school, nonprofit, or grassroots team with a great idea, these grants are designed to help you bring it to life—quickly and effectively..

Mini-Grants

  • Live United Mini-Grants provide up to $2,500 in one-time funding to support short-term projects that:

    • Address an identified community need

    • Serve a broad segment of Wapello County residents

    • Involve volunteers or community partnerships

    • Align with one of our priority areas:

      • Education – Improve kindergarten readiness, literacy, or graduation rates

      • Health – Increase food security or improve overall health outcomes

      • Financial Stability – Help families become more financially secure

    We may also consider projects outside these areas if they align with our mission to improve lives in Wapello County.

  • We do not fund:

    • Political or religious programs that exclusively serve members of a particular group

    • Fundraising events or activities

    • Ongoing operational or multi-year programs

  • Eligible applicants include:

    • 501(c)3 nonprofits

    • Schools, civic groups, and government entities

    • Organizations offering services within Wapello County

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling monthly basis and must be submitted by noon on the 1st of the month to be considered at that month’s Board of Directors meeting.

    Projects must be completed within 12 months of receiving funding.

  • Requirements:

    • All funded programs must recognize United Way of Wapello County in materials and outreach.

    • A final report with budget and receipts must be submitted within 30 days of project completion.
