Helping Our Community Live Safely—One Home at a Time
Resilient Neighbors Program
-
Resilient Neighbors is a community-powered network of volunteers and local partners working together to make homes safer and healthier for those who need it most.
Founded by Resilient Communities Wapello County and coordinated by United Way of Wapello County, we recognize that many of our neighbors—including families, seniors, and retired veterans—live in unsafe conditions due to financial limitations or lack of access to skilled help.
Our mission is simple: to ensure everyone can live in a safe, dignified home.
-
We believe everyone deserves to feel safe and supported at home. That’s why we connect caring volunteers and community partners with neighbors who need a helping hand with minor home repairs and maintenance.
✨ Common projects include:
Clearing walkways and basic yard cleanup
Fixing leaky faucets or broken steps
Securing loose handrails
Replacing door hardware
Simple weatherization projects
Every request is personally reviewed and approved to make sure help goes where it’s needed most.
Together, we’re creating safer homes and stronger neighborhoods—one small project at a time. 🛠️💛 -
