RESILIENT NEIGHBORS PROGRAM
Helping Our Community Live Safely—One Home at a Time
-
Resilient Neighbors is a community-powered network of volunteers and local partners working together to make homes safer and healthier for those who need it most. Founded by Resilient Communities Wapello County and coordinated by United Way of Wapello County, we recognize that many of our neighbors—including families, seniors, and retired veterans—live in unsafe conditions due to financial limitations or lack of access to skilled help.
Our mission is simple: to ensure everyone can live in a safe, dignified home.
-
We match trained volunteers and community resources with residents in need of minor home repairs and maintenance. Common projects include:
Fixing leaky faucets or broken steps
Securing loose handrails
Replacing door hardware
Weatherization and basic yardwork
Each request is reviewed and approved by referral on a case-by-case basis to ensure help reaches those who need it most.
