Food Preservation 101

Join Iowa State University Extension and Outreach on Friday, May 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for Food Preservations 101 with Barb Anderson at the Wapello County ISU Extenstion Office. Registration is required by Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Light lunch will be provided.

Iowa Legal Aid

Iowa Legal Aid works on the United Way of Wapello County’s income indicator to help increase the percent of lower-income working families that are supported and can meet basic needs while increasing their financial education.

Hunger Study

United Way of Wapello County and the Volunteer Center are seeking volunteers for the Hunger in America study. United Way of Wapello County is hosting a volunteer training on April 16,2013 from 12:00-2:00 PM at 224 E. Second Street, Ottumwa. Volunteers are needed in Burlington, Centerville, Fairfield, Ft. Madison, Keokuk, Mediapolis, Oskaloosa, and Ottumwa.

SIEDA Executive Director Opening

Southern Iowa Economic Development Association is seeking a community oriented, professional administrator. They are a nonprofit community action agency based in Ottumwa, IA, that provides programs and services for disadvantaged residents and communities in 10 Iowa counties.

The minimum requirements include BA related to community development, nonprofit management and 5-7 years progressive executive experience.

Meet UWWC's New Youth Board Member

"I am a junior at Ottumwa High School. I play basketball and soccer. I am involved in Substance Abuse Task Force: Teen Advisory Committee, a group dedicated to inform students the effects of substance abuse. I also play percussion. During marching band I play marching snare, concert band is anything that needs covered, and symphony is about the same as concert band. I have two sisters, one older and one younger. My older sister is graduating in August from Texas A&M at Corpus Christi, TX.
